KONA LIVING

Resources for Visiting and Living in Kona Hawaii

Kailua-Kona Hawaii is a beach town located on the Kona Coast. Kona is known for its exceptional fishing, snorkeling, and diving. Kona's white sand beaches and spectacular sunsets made it a favored home of many Hawaiian Kings and a favorite vacation destination today. Hualalai Volcano looms above the town with coffee and macademia plantations.

We just published a travel guide for newcomers to Hawaii Island: Your Ideal Hawaii Island Vacation: A Guide for Visiting the Big Island of Hawaii featuring over 150 places we love in Kona and around the island. Each site has directions and photographs so they are easy to find. We included historical background material about the sites. If you have a Kindle, Your Ideal Hawaii Island Vacation West Side: A Guide for Visiting Kona and Kohala on the Big Island of Hawaii covers the Kona area.

Kona hosts the Ironman World championships every October. The town also hosts outdoor and marine activities all year including marathons, triathalons, canoe races, fishing competitions and more. People come to vacation in the sunny, tropical paradise and stay after making friends.

If you are thinking of moving to Kona, check out YOUR IDEAL HAWAII MOVE: A Guide for Moving to Hawaii Island.
